Product Overview
Cisco® Smart Net Total Care Service delivers extensive installed base and contract management, along with
foundational technical services, device diagnostics, and alerts for Cisco products in the network. This proactive
maintenance package improves risk management, helps resolve problems quickly, and reduce operating expenses.
Using information from a secure discovery of Cisco products and correlating it with Cisco's intellectual capital and
product expertise, Smart Net Total Care delivers actionable intelligence, relevant recommendations and
information, and proactive support capabilities that reduce operating costs and minimize downtime.
New and Changed Information
With this release we have continued our focus on improving the usability of SNTC with several new features that
provide better contract status notification, improve data access control, enhance customer communications,
provide additional device support, and improve product quality.


Proactive Smart Net Total Care service renew al notification – A series of emails w ill be sent to the
Customer Administrator starting 90 days before NLS1 contract expiration to facilitate timely renew als.
User access control for configuration data – Customer administrators are able to choose w hether
users w ill have access to device configuration details, such as the running configuration, in portal
screens and the Custom Inventory offline report.
Enhanced Customer Communications



“What’s New ” splash screen – A portal dialog box is displayed at login w ith information about new features
and functionality.
Support Community link – A link from the portal main page provides easy access to the new Smart Net
Total Care Support Community.
Updated support information – More detailed information is listed in the portal on how to create a service
request to clarify the process.
Additional Device Support

Support for 181 new product IDs (PIDs) – including core routers and sw itches, IP phones, and video
and security devices
Improved Product Quality



Support for stand-alone cards – Cards are now represented as “in chassis” and “stand-alone”, eliminating
chassis count inflation due to logical chassis. Stand-alone cards include independent units such as w ireless access points, service modules, and imported spare cards not located in a netw ork chassis.
Improved notification of file import uploads – A new indicator show ing the status of pending file import
uploads is introduced, w ith the capability to cancel a pending upload.
Reported defects are fixed (refer to list below for details).

As with prior releases, CSPC continues be compatible for both SNTC and NOS.

Description
Problem:
SNTC reported multiple devices under the not-recognized category. This issue impacted few pids related to Transceiver Modules.
Fix:
Processing rules have been corrected. Now those devices are reported with product
ID information.

Problem:
Some customer uploads were not getting processed properly and failed.
There was Intermittent failure in the inventory processing pod when this error occurred.
Fix:

Incorrect copyright years were being displayed on the SNTC Portal.
Fix:
Copyright years are now displayed with the correct timeline.

SNTC was not able to recognize devices with product ID UCSB-B200-M3.
Fix:
Support has been added for this PID. SNTC is now able to recognize these product
IDs and report them correctly.

A SNMP OID validation issue caused SNTC to not validate devices related to the following Product IDs [WS-C3750G-48PS-S, WS-C3750-48TS-S]. These devices were
listed under Unknown category in reports.
Fix:
These products are now listed under the correct category.

An item type mismatch occurred for multiple customers in the SNTC report.
Fix:
Now when a standalone card has the same collected serial number as both chassis
and card, then it will be reported as a chassis.

For IP Phones, SNTC displayed the wrong product alert description, which was related to a "Cisco Catalyst 3550 Series switch".
Fix:
Now reports display the correct product alert information for IP Phones.

Fix:
The PIDs are now correctly reported.

The Inventory report did not display contracts for cards that are covered under chassis entitlement. Similarly reports on SNTC online Portal, did not indicate a card was
covered under chassis entitlement or not.
Fix:
The offline inventory report and the online report correctly identifies cards that are
covered under chassis entitlement.

The Upload Processing Report showed "No. of items from imported file" and for uploads done through file import, the label "Number of managed IPs not collected"
was displayed.
Fix:
The Upload Processing Report has been improved to show the correct labels, which
provides a better understanding of the report and upload details.

When File import CSV has a cell value ending with "/" Character, SNTC displayed file
errors to the user and SNTC did not accept the import file.
