A. Public Scoping Input
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is asking for your help in identifying issues and
concerns that you may have regarding an environmental analysis for a proposed new cellular
tower. An interdisciplinary team will use your comments to assist in analysis of the proposed
action. You may send your comments to me at the address above or submit them electronically
to the e-mail address above. We would like to have your input by June 15, 2014.
B. Proposal
The Klamath Falls Resource Area (KFRA) has been requested by AT&T Mobility, LLC to
permit a new cellular tower on Stukel Mountain. AT&T is proposing to build a 140-foot selfsupporting lattice telecommunications tower with associated antennas and equipment enclosures
within an approximately 60-by-60-foot fenced lease area on a partially developed tract of BLM
land. The project is proposed to be implemented in late summer or early fall of 2014, dependent
upon weather.
C. Location
The proposed site is located in Township 40 South, Range 10 East, Section 15, NW ¼,
Willamette Meridian, in Klamath County. The site location on federal land was chosen because
of the surrounding terrain and elevation (see attached map).
D. Purpose and Need For Action
The purpose for the project is to “provide enhanced communications services including LTE 4G
network coverage that will offer AT&T customers high speed data access.”
E. Further Information
For further information, contact Debora Boudreau or Terry Austin at 541-883-6916.
Once an Environmental Assessment has been prepared, the public will be notified again to
review and provide comments.
NOTE:
Comments, including names and street addresses of respondents, will be available for public
review at the Klamath Falls Resource Area office during regular business hours (7:45 a.m. to
4:30p.m.), Monday through Friday, except holidays. Before including your address, phone
number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, you should
be aware that your entire comment- including your personal identifying information- may be
made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your
personal identifying information from public review or from disclosure under the Freedom of
Information Act, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so. All submissions from
organizations or businesses, and from individuals identifying themselves as representatives or
officials of organizations or businesses, will be made available for public inspection in their
entirety.
