Upgrades for STaR systems
Your STaR system from Rosemount TankRadar can be upgraded in numerous ways
to increase efficency and prolong the lifetime. This note covers some of the most
frequent upgrades.
BRIDGE
IBP-monitoring Display (Recommended by Exxon Mobile H30)
Increase safety and cargo handling monitoring onboard in a cost efficient
way by adding the IBP. The cargo vapor pressure can be monitored via a 10
inch display which can be mounted where it is most convenient at the bridge.
Pressure readings and alarm status can easily be confirmed at the bridge
making this product complying with the recommendations from Exxon
Mobile.
Slave / redundancy workstation upgrade
Two workstations connected in a network providing a degree of fault
tolerance for PC failure. Adding a backup workstation will add safety margin to
operation sustainability. This will reduce the risk of disturbance under normal
operation conditions due to a malfunctioning computer.
IBP monitor for cargo vapor pressure
It will also enable multiple tank information read out at another display at
another location.

Workstation upgrade
The workstation enables a convenient way to monitor the cargo tank data.
You will get access to all alarm settings, visible and audible. It also adds the
possibility to read out level, pressure, temperature, etc for each cargo tank.
New Interface connection
The TankRadar system can be connected to enhance tank level, temp and
pressure information to other onboard system, e.g. load calculators or
automated systems.
Workstation for cargo tank data
Also other systems can be connected to the TankRadar system making it
possible to present e.g. ballast tank information at the TankRadar workstation.
Software changes (MIMICS, Alarm points)
Change of vessel configuration, added cargo type, new settings etc. Any
changes related to the Tankradar system can be supported.
SCD-upgrades
The Service and Communication Display (SCD) is the STaR functional upgrade
for increased diagnostics possibilities. The SCD will save time and money, cut
down service calls and reduce system downtime.
If the Vapor Pressure Sensor (VPS) is already installed the SCD will enable zero
adjustment of pressure sensors by crew. SCC software must be version 5.5.0
or higher.
SCD is a quick installation and will not require extra cabling.

DECK EQUIPMENT
VPS-retro installation (Required by Exxon Mobile H29)
This is applicable for all types of radar transmitters, cone, parabolic and still
pipe.
This upgrade enables vapor pressure measurements in any cargo tank
onboard and complies with the Exxon Mobile requirement H29 valid from
November 2010. Quick and simple installation (no hot-work).
Additional new tanks
Emerson can provide all necessary equipment for tank extension; adding elbox transmitters, temperature and pressure measurements.
Upgrade of system with Temperature sensors
Up to three temperature points per tank can be configured with TankRadar
system. The high performance customized sensors have a wide temperature
range.
VPS Protection Kit (Cone Antenna)
The VPM mounting kit increases the robustness of the pressure measurement
in Cone Antenna applications. The kit will enable higher tolerance of pressure
peaks e.g. caused by tank sloshing or cleaning guns and thereby maintaining
operation even during rough conditions.
VPS Protection and Test Valve Kit (Parabolic Antenna)
The VPT test valve for pressure reference measurement is also available as an
option which will enable control of pressure sensors without exposing cargo to
the atmosphere during operation.

OVERFILL/HIGH LEVEL DETECTION UPGRADES
Besides level gauging, Rosemount TankRadar STaR offers independent, radarbased high-level and overfill alarms.
The Rosemount TankRadar STaR offers an integrated solution for Level
measuring, High Level Alarm and Overfill Alarm into one single tank gauge
unit. This means fewer deck installations, fewer tank penetrations and
simplified cabling, saving both time and money at installation. There will also
be less maintenance and minimized service requirements.
Benefits of Rosemount High level and Overfill solution vs. mechanical system:
•No moving parts inside the tank. This means increased safety and reliability,
as well as minimal maintenance requirements.
•All service is carried out from the outside under closed tank conditions.
•Automatic self-testing ensures uninterrupted reliable function.
•Battery back-up ensures uninterrupted operation for 30 minutes in case of
temporary power failure.
•High security: password-protected change of alarm limits
