OrCAD Academic Program Policies 2004 ACADEMIC SOFTWARE PROGRAM The OrCAD North America Academic Program is administered and supported by EMA Design Automation, Rochester, NY. The OrCAD North America Academic Program was established to provide commercialgrade EDA software to accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities for noncommercial, notfor-profit educational purposes. Academic research using OrCAD software via the Academic Program must be limited to research in pursuit of a degree (e.g., thesis research) and the results of this research must be in the public domain. EMA Design Automation reserves the right to qualify academic research for applicability under this program. Standard Policies 1. All applicants to the program must be accredited, degree-granting academic institutions in the 50 United States or in Canada. The applicant may not be National Laboratory, National Center or National Facility operated by an academic institution for the U.S or Canadian government, nor a wholly federally-funded research center or scientific facility (except degree-granting military schools.) Our program's primary focus is the traditional academic departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EECS, ECE, and Physics. Other university research labs, centers and institutions will be evaluated for participation in our program on a case-by-case basis. 2. For each site, the academic institution will identify a single server that will house the OrCAD license file. Multiple floating licenses may be accessed from machines attached to a network containing the server. Executables may be housed on the server or another machine on the network. 3. The OrCAD software provided is subject to availability on the designated server machine. Further limitations may apply when additional executables are requested. 4. For each site, a primary and a secondary Technical Liaison will be designated by the academic institution. Technical Liaisons will be responsible for installation and maintenance of the OrCAD software, and are the point of contact with EMA Design Automation for all support issues. EMA Design Automation will provide access to training services on a spaceavailable basis for the Technical Liaisons; travel costs incurred for attendance of training classes is the responsibility of the academic institution. Technical Liaisons will be added to the Academic Program email reflector. 5. Up to 20 licenses of each of the following products will be licensed to a single server: OrCAD Unison Ultra + OrCAD Capture CIS Option (PO1530 + PO1120) 6. The annual charge for 20 licenses is $2000. Licenses may be added for an additional $2000 for each additional increment of 20 licenses. 7. All OrCAD software and documentation will be provided on a CD. License files are sent via email. The academic institution may make an unlimited number of CD copies, and print an unlimited number of hardcopies of OrCAD documentation for internal use in conjunction with its OrCAD site. 8. An authorized representative of the academic institution will review and approve the online Academic Software Program License Agreement. Changes and/or additions to the License Agreement are not honored. The agreement must be approved by a academic institution representative capable of entering into legal contracts on behalf of the academic institution. 9. The academic institution will provide information to EMA Design Automation indicating the number of students per class/research project and the topic of the class/research project. 10. New products and ports to new platforms may not be immediately available to universities. The Academic Program reserves the right to limit the availability of any product or platform port. 11. Automatic updates will not be shipped during the one-year agreement term. Updates and/or bug fixes may be sent at EMA Design Automation’s discretion. The Academic Institution is free to download and install any web updates that become generally available. Requests for rehosts will be reviewed on a case by case basis and may be subject to a $500/transaction fee. 12. Access to EMA Design Automation’s technical support hotline is available to the designated Technical Liaisons. EMA Design Automation reserves the right to limit the support resources expended on any Service Request, based on resource availability and EMA Design Automation’s priorities. Academic institutions may not submit “production stopping” requests at any time. 13. The academic institution agrees to upgrade to the latest OrCAD software configuration offered via the EMA Design Automation Academic Program upon each annual renewal. Please attach documentation regarding your research project to support the use of this application for academic research as stated in paragraph 9 above.
