2012 Residential
Environmental Program Series.
Resilient Communities.
Tuesday, Feb. 1, 7–9 p.m.
Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Dr.
(Preregistration is not necessary for this free program.)
Join us for a screening of Carbon Nation, a
documentary about innovative global solutions to
energy, food and transportation issues. Carbon
Nation is entertaining, informative and provides a
realistic perspective regarding the importance of
being part of the new, low-carbon economy.
Following the film, local experts will discuss:
• opportunities to create a resilient community
through the FortZED residential energy project
• new and free home assessments through Healthy
Sustainable Homes
• neighborhood grants and rebate programs
(e.g., appliances, toilets, recycling services)
• resources for growing and buying healthier food
Presenters:
Social Sustainability: Dr. Rosemarie Russo, City
of Fort Collins sustainability coordinator, will help
citizens learn how to partner with local resources,
such as community gardens and ranches, to sustain
a healthier community. Dr. Russo will provide
information on the new self-guided bike tour of
innovative projects throughout Fort Collins, including
the outdoor kitchen at the Gardens on Spring Creek,
an evacuated solar tube project at EPIC and electric
vehicle charging stations at City Hall.
FortZED: Arianna Friedlander will provide an
overview of the FortZED Community Energy
Challenge, including resources for conservation and
energy efficient home improvements. Other topics will
include renewable energy and sustainable living.
Healthy Sustainable Homes: Mary Pat Aardrup will
help unlock the mysteries of your home’s health and
provide information about a new and free volunteer
driven program to help families improve the indoor air
quality in their homes.
Refreshments will be served. Kids are welcome.
