College of Arts and Sciences Co-sponsored by The Jewish Studies Program, Religious Studies Department, and History Department University of South Carolina Investing (in) Jerusalem: Sacred Stones, Cosmic Time and Salvation Narratives Dr. Naomi Koltun-Fromm, Haverford College Scholars of early Islamic history and texts suggest that early Muslim interest in Jerusalem and especially its acclaimed Rock of Foundation was directly influenced by their understanding of Jerusalem’s religious significance to both Jews and Christians.
