Applications for the Special Studies
Program open
The Special Studies Program is launched and
advertised with What’s New announcements
Be aware of submission dates
SSP Application (Form 1 )
If supported, your HoS endorses your application
and confirms that it can be accommodated by the
discipline
Advise your Head of School (HoS) of
your firm intention to apply for SSP
Submit your application to your HoS for
comment and recommendation

The Special Studies Program Faculty
Committees meet to consider
applications. Applicants then receive
written notification of the outcome
from the Executive Dean
2 months prior
to the study
period
Comments/Rationale
The Special Studies Program Faculty Committee may
request conditions on your application, and you
need to be willing to comply with these to progress
your application. You lodge the documentation
accepting the approval and any conditions up to two
(2) months prior to starting your period on the
Special Studies Program
Complete all applicable documentation
and submit it to the Executive Dean via
your HoS
(A) Declaration to undertake the study
period [all applicants]
SSP Declaration (Form 2)
Discuss with your HoS
Final approval will not be given until this is received.
You need to agree to and demonstrate that you
have met the conditions of approval
(B) Travel [if applicable]
Contact the Travel Office for advice on the
correct forms to be completed
You must complete a Domestic Travel Authority or
International Travel Approval form for either
domestic or international travel
The approved travel grant may not fully cover the
cost of the planned travel. The Travel Office are
about to discuss with you how this can be paid to
you
(C) Leave application
[if applicable]
You can apply for leave on the Web Kiosk
The HoS needs to approve leave requests and any
modification to the dates approved in the
application
Include any leave to be taken preceding or following
the period on the Program and discuss with your
HoS whether this is can be accommodated

Submit a report to DVC (Academic) via
your HoS and Executive Dean.
Send a copy to the CSU Library.
SSP Report (Form 3)
This is a requirement of the program and documents
the activity and your achievements over the study
period.
In addition submit receipts and a travel
acquittal if applicable
You should discuss this at your next EDRS meeting
and link it with your performance and career
planning
