Science and Agriculture Enrichment Day Friday 13 June 2014 9:00am – 2:30pm The 2014 Science and Agriculture Enrichment Day offers high school students in agriculture, and primary industries the opportunity to observe and take part in work done by professional agricultural and animal scientists. Students will have hands on experience and gain an insight into meat quality, soil root nematodes, the science of a healthy brain and its protection and grain quality and screening in four 45 minute sessions. Sessions 1 2 Session Muscle to Meat and Eating Quality, including primal and cut identification Soil Root Nematodes Presenter Steph Fowler (CSU) Location Kylie Crampton (CSU) 3 Science of a healthy brain and its Syed Haris Omar protection (CSU) 4 Grain quality and screening Soumi Mukhopadhyay and Adeola Alashi (CSU) SAWS = School of Agriculture and Wine Sciences Students must wear footwear that fully encloses the foot (shoes/boots). Morning tea will be provided and students are required to bring their own lunch. There is no cost for attending. Routes between sessions At the completion of each session, a guide will accompany students to the next venue. Program 9.00 ‐9.20am – Arrival at CSU Convention Centre, Pugsley Place. On arrival, students will be placed into one of five groups, A, B, C, D or E, with at least one teacher to accompany each group. Guides from venues 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will take one group each to these venues for a 9.30 am start.
