Graham Centre Cropping and Pasture Systems Field Forum Wednesday 3 September 2014 Program Time Session 8:30 am Arrival and coffee 9:00 am Welcome 9:15 am Forum I “Stubble – Pests, Disease and Weeds” Forum II “Livestock and the Feedbase” 10:15 am Morning tea/coffee, demonstrations 10:45 am Official Opening and Monograph launch (Dr Tony Fischer, CSIRO) 11:15 am Forum II “Livestock and the Feedbase” Forum I “Stubble – Pests, Disease and Weeds” 12:15 pm Field walk (2 groups) 1:15 pm Lunch Forum I “Stubble – Pests, Disease and Weeds” Aim This forum aims to examine the benefits and problems associated with stubble from the previous crop, focussing on pests, disease and weed management. It will identify areas of concern to farmers and direct future research and extension by the Graham Centre. Conduct The forum involves a panel represented by growers and researchers. The panel will be supported by a range of industry experts located amongst the wider audience. The forum will commence with three speakers discussing their experiences, research, challenges and successes. The facilitator will then lead discussion using questions from both the audience and those collected earlier as a result of open consultation with all sectors – farmers, farming groups, consultants, research and advisory, educators and industry organisations. The discussion will be recorded and reported. Forum II “Livestock and the Feedbase” Aim This forum aims to examine present issues and knowledge concerning animal health and grazing pastures and crops. It will identify areas of concern to farmers and direct future research and extension by the Graham Centre. Conduct As above 2
