Hello Trish,
I was reading through the Daily Courier the other day and came across the article about the BLM proposed trail
system for mountain bikes in the Tin Pan Peak area and the 10 car parking lot. I was wondering if there will be
any civil engineering needed for this should it be approved? If so, we would be highly interested in this project.
We have done several projects similar to this one and we have also worked with BLM and Oregon Department of
Forestry in the past.
Please let me know what services you anticipate for this, and if need be, I can send you a Statement of
Qualifications.

As a responsible horse owner and avid trail rider, I am asking that the new trail system being developed also
include access for horseback riding. It is my understanding that at this time, the trail is being developed only for
mountain bikers. In recent years, due to private development and other factors, much of the land that used to be
available to horsemen is disappearing. Many of us were born here; others moved here; all of us anticipated being
able to share the beauty of our forests, valleys, and waterways. Most of us who access these treasures also are
mindful of our duty to protect and sustain this natural beauty. To this end, many equine clubs have regularly
scheduled trail maintenance activities via volunteers from the various groups. To my knowledge, we also have a
history of a successful co-existence with mountain bikers, and hikers, on the current trail systems. I ask that
there be consideration for our very active horse community, who continue to work diligently to maintain the living
and recreational value of our forest lands. Please give us a voice to help determine the use parameters of this
new trail system.

It has just come to our attention that you are building a rail system on BLM lands southeast of
the town of Rogue River. This trail would be limited to mountain biking and hiking. We are
equistrians who live off Foothill Blvd and want horseback riding included in the Mountain of the
Rogue Trail Project. For years we have tried to locate trails in the Rogue watershed. As you
know, Cathedral Hills is a multi use trail area and this is an excellent opportunity to expand
equistrian multi use trails on the East side of the Valley.
Please create trails that are truly multi-use for biking, hiking and riding.

I’ve been made aware that plans are being developed for an extension to the trail system near Rogue River that
doesn’t allow for horseback riding as well as other uses. In the interest of efficiency and fairness, all nonmotorized users should be allowed access in my view. Please consider making allowance for those of us who
wish to ride horses.
