After reviewing the Rogue River trail scoping document and being an avid mountain bike living here in the Rogue
Valley for over a decade, I would like to state that I am very excited and in complete support of the project. Legal
new trails, especially downhill specific ones are a dream come true. Thanks for your intetest in this project.
Sincerely,

Hi, great ode to build a trail up Tin Pan Peak
Although I am now confined to a recumbent trims due to balance problems, and doubt I'll ever be able to ride this
trail, I am nevertheless in support.
I am interested in helping in trail construction, especially the basic design, slope, erosion prevention features,
etc.
As a retired general contractor, I have many years experience designing driveways and roads on often steep
terrain. I also have mapped and built trails on my own acreage.
Two or three years ago I designed and layer out a 2700 foot expansion to my trail system, and hired a company
to do the actual excavation. The owners own several pieces of trail-building equipment; the one they used on my
project was designed and custom built by these men. Since my new trail traverses slopes up to 60% slopes, I
wanted to avoid excess earth movement by keeping the trail narrow. Their equipment was perfect for this. It's only
30" wide, and it has an extremely fast-acting backhoe on one end, and an adjustable smoothing blade on the
other.
It took the operator only two or three days to do a Marcellus job (I had already flagged the route, and cut/removed

any down trees that were in the way) . The narrow width of the excavator enabled us to build this trail while
cutting virtually no live trees, and zero live trees over 3-4" diameter.
If you are interested in my help, let me know. If you are interested in more information on this trail building
company, let me know. Oh-they built me a 36" wide trail for $1 per foot.
Best,

Trish,
I am excited to hear about the Mountain of the Rogue Trail Project. We have numerous mountain
bikers, trail runners, and hikers in our community that would love to have more recreational options
close to home. I also believe this project will benefit our local economy and help put Rogue River on
the map for all the right reasons. As a former Board member of the Rogue River Greenway
Foundation I am very familiar with the commitment of this community and those working on the
Mountain Bike trail project to recreation and know the project will be a success. If you would please
keep me updated on the progress of the project at the e-mail address below that would be awesome.

As a long time trail rider. eager for opportunities to explore new trail on Oregon, I ask that horses be included in
the "user group" for your "Mountain of the Rogue" trail system.
Thank you,

Dear Trish:
I have just now heard about the Rogue River trail system and request that the trails be multi use to include
horses! We ride up in that area frequently and would LOVE to have more options. If at least some of the trails
could be multi-use, we would be soooo grateful.
Please add me to your email list for further updates and communications on this matter.
Thank you!

Hi,
I grew up in Rogue River and now am a regular visitor of the area. I am excited for the Mountain of the Rogue
Trail Project. When visiting the area, I would use the trails for both mountain biking and hiking. This project will
benefit the community of Rogue River in numerous ways, providing locals and visitors with an opportunity for
outdoor activity.

Dear Trish & Nick,
I am writing in regards to the Mountain of the Rogue Trail System you folks are proposing.
I am not in favor of this system due to the following reasons:
It will damage the habitat for the wildlife.
Added traffic and congestion for residence living in the area.
The cost to build such a system.
The cost to maintain the system. (Considering BLM does not have funds to maintain what they have
now)
Additional risk of fire due to the increased usage.

I was just made aware of this new trail system and want to express my excitement that we may be getting a new
trail for riding our horses. There are so many groups of people that enjoy our trails here in Oregon and always
need more trails. Many of us help to keep the trails clear of debis as well and would hope that you would
consider making at least part of this new trail system open to horseback riding as well as hikers. Thank you so
much for your consideration in this matter.
My gold does not clink and glitter. It gleams in the sun and neighs in the dark.
