Students interested in an internship opportunity must complete this application and forward it to the Office of Student
Services. In order to be considered for an Internship, the form must be received by May 15 for Fall semester, October 15
for Spring semester and April 15 for Summer semester. Certain internships require extensive background investigations
(e.g. U.S. Marshal's Service) and applications may take longer to process.
INTERNSHIP PREQUISITES:
1. Students must be a criminal justice major or minor.
2. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This can be waived for good cause with the permission of the
Internship coordinator.
3. Students must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of university credit.
4. Students must have completed a minimum of 21 hours of CRJU courses, including the core requirements.
5. The prospective intern must submit a letter of intent for his/her participation in the internship program including a
resume detailing any work history and special areas of interest and how the student would benefit from the
experience of an internship.
6. Placement of the intern is the responsibility of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and while
every attempt will be made to consider the particular agency that the student requests, placement will be determined
by availability.
7. Students will be required to interview with the prospective agency prior to their placement. During this interview,
the student will be able to investigate the nature of the internship and ask question relative to the work experience.
Agency representatives are likely to interview you for your level of commitment and interest.
8. Agencies will make the final determination in terms of the acceptance of the student for an internship.
