The Limits to Populism: The Kirchners’ Argentina in Comparative Perspective

Professor Waisman is a Political Sociologist. He obtained his Ph.D from Harvard. He has published a number
of books, the latest being ‘Civil Society In Latin America. His first book ‘Modernization and the Working
Class: The Politics of Legitimacy’ attracted world wide attention. Besides books, Professor Waisman has
published a large number of articles and book chapters. He has been a Visiting Professor at, among others,
Yale, Stanford, the Peace Research Institute in Oslo, the Truman Institute at the Hebrew University in
Jerusalem, and the University of Notre Dame. He is a distinguished guest at the University of Waikato and
we are delighted he has agreed to address members of the Institute.
