Award in Excellence
Diane dePolo, Network Seismologist at the Nevada Seismological Laboratory, was awarded a National
Award in Excellence by the Western States Seismological Safety Council (WSSPC). This award was given
in recognition of the Nevada Earthquake Safety Calendar that she prepared for Nevada's school children
on behalf of the Nevada Earthquake Safety Council and several sponsoring organizations. John Anderson
(above left), Director of the Nevada Seismological Laboratory, accepted the award for Diane from Larry
Fellows, Arizona State Geologist and member of the WSSPC Board of Directors, at the National
Earthquake Risk Management Conference in Seattle on September 21, 2000.
