Mitigation Plan Information
Does your state have a FEMA-approved multi-hazard
mitigation plan?
If the plan is not yet approved, when do you expect
approval?
Yes
Is your agency and/or project location covered by a
FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plan? (An approved
mitigation plan is required in order to receive funding
through this grant program.)
Use the space below to identify the goal(s), objective(s),
and action(s) this project relates to in the plan:
W7
The City of Reno Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
What is the name of the plan?
Ideas for Implementation:
W7.1
Employ mechanical thinning and
prescribed burning to abate the risk of
catastrophic fire and restore the more
natural regime of high frequency, lowintensity burns. Prescribed burning can
provide benefit to ecosystems by thinning
hazardous vegetation and restoring
ecological diversity to areas homogenized
by invasive plants; and
W7.2
Clear trimmings, trees, brush, and other
debris completely from sites when
performing routine maintenance and
landscaping to reduce fire risk.
6/3/2005
When was the plan approved?
Single
Is this plan a single or multi-jurisdictional plan?
