Specification Sheet Issued 8/24/10 Revision 0 VA001-066-43 LineGuard 2300 The LineGuard 2300 Electronic linebreak detection system monitors natural gas pipeline pressure and rate of pressure drop, and can provide manual or automatic control of a single valve actuator at a station site or a remote site. This economical safety device reliably and accurately performs gas pressure calculations, actuator control, data sampling and archival, and remote communications. The LineGuard 2300 Electronic linebreak detection system has a weather-tight enclosure, with a LCD touchpad display. This self-contained controller has a processor circuit board, internal batteries, a wire termination board, an integral line-pressure transducer, an integral solenoid and terminal wiring for a 3- or 4- wire RTD. It also has additional I/O nd points for an optional 2 pressure transducer and/or a nd 2 solenoid. The basic LineGuard 2300 unit consists of the following components and features: • • • • • • • • • • A 32-bit processor board, 2 MB for flash ROM, and 2 MB of SRAM for data storage Pressure transducer for static pressure and ROD measurement Weather-tight CSA Type 4 enclosure Eight-line by twenty-one character touchpad display Local Operator Interface port (LOI) RS-485 or RS-232 Communication Port (Built into CPU module) Support for a 3- or 4- wire 100 ohm RTD Five diagnostic analog input monitoring logical voltage, battery voltage, charge in voltage, system milliamps and board temperature Solenoid Valve, 12 VDC, 1.4 Watts Discrete Output relay(s) rated 30 VDC at 1.0 amps max. Valve Automation The LineGuard 2300 utilizes a 32-bit microprocessor, which incorporates low-power operating modes. The LineGuard 2300 comes standard with 2 MB of built-in Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) for storing data and history. Backup power for the RAM is supplied by a small lithium battery. The LineGuard 2300 also has 2 MB of programmable Read-Only Memory (flash ROM) for storing operating system firmware, configuration parameters, and applications firmware. Firmware - The firmware provides the following functionality. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Calculation of average high and low line pressure and high rate of pressure drop based on a selectable number of samples (1 to 12) Auto-closure capability to energize the solenoid Time delay before acceptance of a major event Solenoid time-out Memory logging of 100 minor event pressure logs Memory logging of 100 minor event ROD logs Memory logging of 1 major event pressure logs Memory logging of 1 major event ROD logs Memory logging of 240 alarms and 240 events Standard History Archival of 35 days of hourly data for up to 35 points Extended History Archival for up to 15 points at a configurable interval Alarm call-out to a host, known as Spontaneous Report By Exception (SRBX) Modbus ASCII and RTU slave or host protocols Fisher ROC protocol support User C programs support for specialty applications Pass-Through communications on multiple ports Specification Sheet VA001-066-43 Configuration Software - The field I/O, pressure sensor inputs, linebreak calculation, history logging, and all other functions are accessed and configured using ROCLINK™ 800 Configuration Software (see Specification Sheet 4:RL800). Termination Board - The standard termination board provides terminations for the pressure sensor input, the solenoid, the LOI communications port, the RSnd 485 or RS-232 communications port, an optional 2 nd pressure sensor, an optional 2 solenoid, and incoming power. The Local Operator Interface (LOI) port provides a direct, local link between the LineGuard unit and a personal computer (PC). A PC connected to the LOI port running ROCLINK 800 software can configure the functionality of the LineGuard unit, monitor its operation and download logs. In addition, a host computer can remotely configure the LineGuard unit and download logs through the host communications port. Diagnostics - Five diagnostic analog input monitoring logical voltage, battery voltage, charge in voltage, system milliamps and board temperature. Pressure Transducer - The LineGuard 2300 uses proven transducer technology to sense pipeline pressure and provide extremely accurate, stable and repeatable readings. As standard, a 1-5 VDC output transducer is used, but a 4-20 mA output external transducer may be used with an easy software change. Solenoid – A low wattage solenoid rated at 150 PSI is used to pilot external controls in order to close the valve. The LineGuard 2300 base consists of an integral manifold that holds both the pressure transducer and solenoid, as well as provides process and pilot pressure connections. Valve Automation Issued 8/24/10 Revision 0 Housing - The weather-proof, CSA Type 4 enclosure protects the electronics from physical damage and harsh environments. The enclosure has a Class I Div. 2 (hazardous area) rating when properly installed with cable/conduit seals. The enclosure has four 7/8-inch holes and one 1inch NPT conduit hub for field wiring, communications or solar panel access. Mounting - The LineGuard 2300 assembly has provisions that allow the LineGuard to be mounted locally on the actuator or remotely on a pipe stand. Open I/O Points - The terminal board provides terminations for optional I/O points. The open I/O points are: one software selectable Analog Input/Discrete Input point (additional analog sensor or limit switch), one Discrete Output point, two software selectable Pulse Inputs/ Discrete Inputs and (limit switches), and five Discrete Output relays. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Touchpad - Using the door mounted LCD touchpad display, you can view selected data stored in the LineGuard 2300 unit. The LCD is typically used to display pressure data, time and date, real-time parameters and user-specified parameters. The touch screen provides a multi-line graphic display scrolling through the configured list of items, when activated by the user. The touchpad can also be security enabled to allow up to sixteen users read-only, read-write or no access to the user lists and standard features Surge Protection – The 24 VDC and solar powered LineGuard 2300 comes equipped, as standard, with 20 kA surge protection for the incoming power, pressure transducer, and communication signal. Specification Sheet VA001-066-43 Options Power Options – The LineGuard 2300 has four power options available: 24 VDC, solar powered, 115 VAC or 230 VAC.
