SCOM uses a single interface that shows the state, health, and performance information of computer systems. It also provides alerts that are generated according to availability, performance, configuration, or identified security risks. This tool works with Microsoft Windows Server and UNIX-based hosts. A management pack is a definition file that contains predefined monitoring settings that enable an agent to monitor a specific service or application in SCOM. The predefined settings include discovery information that allows SCOM to automatically detect and begin monitoring services and applications. It also consists of a knowledge base that contains error and troubleshooting information, alerts, and reports to help you correct problems detected in the environment. Cisco UCS Management Pack, Release 2.6 provides you visibility into the health, performance, and availability of Cisco UCS through a single, familiar, and easy-to-use interface. The management pack contains rules that monitor, for example, chassis, blade servers, rack servers, and service profiles across multiple Cisco UCS systems. System Requirements Before installing Cisco UCS Management Pack, ensure the system meets or exceeds the following minimum requirements: • Software Requirements, page 2 • Supported Cisco UCS Manager Releases, page 2 Software Requirements • Windows PowerShell 2.0 or above • .NET Framework 4 or above • System Center Operations Manager 2012 (with Update Rollout 2 or above) or 2012 SP1 or 2012 R2 Supported Cisco UCS Manager Releases Cisco UCS Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager is compatible with Cisco UCS Manager, Release 1.4 or later. 2 Release Notes for Cisco UCS Management Pack, Release 2.6 For Microsoft System Center 2012, 2012 SP1 and 2012 R2 - Operations Manager OL-29607-02 New Features New Features This section briefly describes the new features introduced in Cisco UCS Management Pack, for various 2.6 releases. For detailed information about the features listed, see the documents listed in the Cisco Communities section. Cisco UCS Management Pack, Release 2.6 includes the following new features: • Cisco UCS Management Service, page 4 • Severity Mapping, page 4 • Severity Remapping, page 4 Release Notes for Cisco UCS Management Pack, Release 2.6 For Microsoft System Center 2012, 2012 SP1 and 2012 R2 - Operations Manager OL-29607-02 3 New Features • Fault Filters, page 4 • Auto-Resolution of Faults, page 4 Cisco UCS Management Service Cisco UCS Management Service is a new component in Cisco UCS Management Pack. This management service acts as an agent between the management pack and Cisco UCS domains. It maintains the communication sessions for the Cisco UCS domains that are registered with it. Cisco UCS Management Service should be installed on the management servers. You can install multiple instances of Cisco UCS Management Service if the deployment includes a resource pool of management servers. Severity Mapping Enhancements to severity mapping provide you with additional flexibility to configure the mapping between severity levels in Cisco UCS and SCOM. Severity Remapping Severity remapping enables you to override the existing severity mapping for specific filters, per Cisco UCS domain, based on criteria that you define. Fault Filters You can configure filters to prevent unwanted or undesirable faults from a Cisco UCS domain from being shown in the Alerts view of SCOM. Filters provide the capability to create complex conditions using AND OR groups. You can also nest groups to create complex conditions based on the needs of your business. Auto-Resolution of Faults Actions performed on faults by administrators in Cisco UCS Manager, such as clearing faults or acknowledging faults, are automatically resolved by Cisco UCS Management Pack and reflected in the Faults view of the SCOM. Auto-resolution of faults is enabled by default. 4 Release Notes for Cisco UCS Management Pack, Release 2.6 For Microsoft System Center 2012, 2012 SP1 and 2012 R2 - Operations Manager OL-29607-02 Resolved Caveats Resolved Caveats Resolved Caveats for Release 2.6.2 Bug ID Symptom CSCul43164 When the number of chassis in a UCS exceeds nine, then the blades of chassis 10, chassis 11, chassis 12 and so on are shown as blades of chassis 1.
