Greek Life Graduate Assistant Position Description
POSITION PURPOSE: The Greek Life Graduate Assistant (GA) assists with programming, advising, and administrative duties associated with
the Greek Life Program. The GA will strive to create a fraternity and sorority community that promotes leadership, scholarship, service, and
unity in order to retain students, promote student success, leave legacies, and create unmatched campus traditions. Responsibilities include:
Supervision of student staff, chapter program oversight, advising of governing councils, and leadership programming. This position reports
directly to the Assistant Director for Greek Life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Advising: (1) Meet with chapter members to discuss, implement, and assess their chapter programs; (2) Co-advise at least two governing
councils; (3) Work with chapter members to help plan events to make sure compliance standards with all national, local, and University
policies are met; (4) Recruit and initiate members into Gamma Sigma Alpha National Honor Society & Order of Omega; and, (5) Oversee
Greek Life marketing efforts.
Training and Development: (1) The individual in this position will be required to attend a two-week training prior to the beginning of the fall
semester and additional training at the start of the spring semester. (2) Work with professional and student staff to develop training and
activities to promote development for campus leaders.
Event Responsibilities: (1) Serve in a rotation with other Graduate Assistants for on campus parties and long distance travel, including but not
limited to, nights and weekends; (2) Be present at certain campus and student events to assist with setup and cleanup; and, (3) Assist with
duties at large campus events as needed/necessary.
Programming: (1) Oversee Greek Life programs: Transition Retreat, Greek Week, New Member Retreat, Greek Leadership Retreats, Greek
Awards, Greek Olympics, Circle of Greeks, Risk Management Programs, and PACE collaborative programming. These responsibilities will be
solidified within one month from hire date.
General Administration: (1) Schedule at least 20 office hours per week (outside of meetings and campus events); (2) Working knowledge of
OrgSync, Resource 25, Eventbrite, Purchasing & Contracts, as well as office policies and procedures will be necessary (3) Prepare and oversee
the Greek Life semester calendar; (4) Oversee R25 requests for Greek Life; (5) Create, revise, and manage Greek Life documents; (6) Assist in
updating Greek Life portion of SDCA website; (7) Assist with preparing chapter rosters and contact information; (8) Manage Greek Gazette
distribution; (9) Prepare and manage assessment and evaluation data; (10) Process financial paperwork needed for both campus and chapter
programs; and, (11) Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Experience in Greek Life, housing, orientation, student government and/or campus programming is preferred; (2) Acceptance into Pace’s
graduate school; (3) Being a member of a fraternity or sorority is strongly preferred; (4) Knowledge and interest in working in a college
environment; Note: Due to position requirements, no concurrent employment (outside of internships required for class) is encouraged; any
exceptions require approval from supervisor.
PHYSICAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Work performed both in and outdoors; ability to lift 25lbs; frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting; frequent use of
phone and computer keyboard.
