A municipal water treatment facility
CHALLENGE
Facility owners must have their flow meters certified annually to meet
regulatory requirements. In order to properly certify mag meters
manufactured by others, the flow sensors and transmitters must be
returned to the factory for testing or certified on site. The customer
was previously paying for a local technician to visit the site once a year
to calibrate the meter. To perform the certification, processes must be
shut down to remove flow sensors and spool pieces must be installed
when the meter is returned to the factory for calibration. Unless
another meter is available, flow streams cannot be monitored during
this process.
SOLUTION
The Rosemount SMART Meter Verification diagnostic allowed Delta
Process to provide the customer with a valuable service and produce
an additional income stream for Delta. While the owner has the ability
to perform the diagnostic, their preference is to have the authorized
Emerson Process Management representative document the results.
The previous method for verifying the magmeter system was
incomplete, as the technician only verified a portion of the magmeter
system. Rosemount mag meters with SMART Meter Verification
provide Emerson Process Management representatives the ability to
prove the magmeter system is performing within it's required
accuracy. Written documentation of the verification is provided to the
owner for their records.
