The MITRE Corporation
■ MITRE is a private, independent, not-for-profit organization,
chartered to work in the public interest
■ Founded in 1958 to provide engineering and technical
services to the U.S. Air Force
■ Currently manages six Federally Funded Research and
Development Centers – for the Department of Defense, the
Federal Aviation Administration, the Internal Revenue
Service/Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of
Homeland Security, the Administrative Office of the U.S.
Courts, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Our Mission: As a public interest company, MITRE works
in partnership with the government, applying systems
engineering and advanced technology to address issues
of critical national importance

Development Centers (FFRDCs)
