Akoranga Kōaro
(Wharekura/Taumata 5-6)
Flipped learning (akoranga kōaro) can be used as a method of providing dual
language instruction while adhering to the language separation policy. Bilingual
content/concept webcasts can be created for students to watch in their own time in
preparation for face to face lessons that are conducted entirely in te reo Māori. The
flipped learning model also provides opportunities for whānau to improve their
understanding of Pāngarau language and content. Workshop participants will be
able to trial the flipped learning model and participate in Pāngarau activities with a
focus on language acquisition.
