Program Description
This program, run at the prestigious L'Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), provides
25 hours of French language instruction weekly at several different levels. CUNY students will
study alongside students from different countries of Europe. They will be housed in 2-bed
studios with bathrooms and kitchens. The program will include visits to the Château de
Compiègne (one of the largest classical castles in France) as well as to the Château de
Pierrefonds and the Château de Chantilly.
Compiègne (population of about 50,000) is nestled in a beautiful forest, roughly 50 miles north
of Paris, and about 50 minutes away by express train. Due to its location, Compiègne provides a
perfect base for weekend trips to Paris as well as to Senlis, Amiens, Beauvais, Reims and the
whole region of Picardy.

Prerequisites
French 101 and 102 or French 103. Students who have not taken any French at CUNY need to
take a placement test administered by the Department of Romance Languages at Hunter College.
You should inquire with the department directly regarding the dates when the tests are
administered.
