TRANSFER CREDIT GUIDE:
MAJORS IN THE HUMANITIES, SOCIAL SCIENCES, and ARTS
If you are a South Carolina technical college student who plans to transfer to the University’s College of Arts and Sciences,
to pursue a liberal arts major, you should consider the following courses as you schedule your technical college classes.
The courses listed below will transfer to degree programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. This list does not include every technical college course that is available for transfer to the University of South Carolina. You are not required
to take all courses listed prior to transferring. Rather, it is a guide for you and your advisors.* You should be aware that
courses must be passed with a grade of C or higher in order to be considered for transfer credit. Please review admissions

Foreign Language
1) FRE 101, 102 (equivalent to FREN 109, 110)

Mathematics/Analytical Reasoning
Foreign Language
Demonstration of proficiency in one foreign language equivalent
to the minimal passing grade on the exit examination in the 122
course. Students transferring credit equivalent to USC 109 and 110
may enroll in USC 122 to complete the required sequence.
Mathematics/Analytical Reasoning
All students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts degree must take one
of the following options. Students should consult the University
Bulletin for specific requirements for specific majors. The bulletin is
available at http://www.sc.edu/bulletin/ugrad/

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree is an option for a limited
number of majors in the social sciences. See the University Bulletin.
For a B.S. degree, students must take a minimum of 12 hours, to
include:
1. MATH 141 or 122, as specified by major department
2. MATH 142, 170, or 172, as specified by major department
3. STAT 201 (or equivalent) or higher, as specifed by major department
4. CSCE 102 (or equivalent) or higher, as specified by major
department

The following technical college courses will satisfy the social
sciences requirements:

Social Sciences (6-9 hours)
Three courses from the social sciences are required for the B.A.
degree. Two courses are required for the B.S. degree.
