Malaria, which is an infection caused by a parasite transmitted to man by mosquitoes, kills more than 1 million
people every year. The disease is one of the most deadly on the planet, and threatens one third of humanity,
essentially populations in tropical regions. Malaria is a major obstacle to development, and is a very real challenge for research.
