This exhibition has been devised and produced by the IRD with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs
(Directorate general for global affairs, development and partnerships).
The Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD) is present in the whole of the tropical regions and fulfils three vital roles: research, expertise and training.
Its research programmes are centred on the relationships between humans and their environment in the countries of the South with the objective of contributing
to their sustainable development. The Institute is engaged in a large range of European and international scientific programmes and conducts its research closely
with its partner countries.
The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs with its overseas network and research organizations is undertaking an action founded on the internationalization
of French research and support of sustainable development. In this context, it is developing an action founded on the internationalization of French research and support
of sustainable development. In this context, it is developing a scientific partnership policy, especially with the countries of the European Area and the emerging countries
and is supporting innovation and technological partnerships. Furthermore, it is helping scientific communities of the South by strengthening
their national research capacities and systems.
