The Boating Industries Alliance Australia has launched its third annual State of Industry Survey, to gather and
collate data on the health of the Australian boating industry. With one week to go until closing of the survey, a call
is being made to all BIA members across Australia to take a few minutes to complete the survey, by visiting:

BIAA General Manager, Nik Parker said “all successful business operators know access to effective and up to date
data is essential for effective business planning. Similarly, the BIAA needs data to enhance the profile of the
industry with governments, attract investment in our industry and promote the benefits of the boating lifestyle to
all Australians. I’d encourage all members to take part, today”.
As one of a suite of data collection projects underway, the State of Industry Survey 2013 will provide the BIAA and
industry members with an up to date assessment of the performance of the boating industry, drawing on matching
data collected in 2011 and 2012. Commenting on the expected publication of the survey findings in early 2014,
Parker said “with quality industry and consumer data we will be well placed to promote and protect the sector in
an increasingly competitive and regulated market place. Alongside this industry survey we are also working to
gather data on boater activity via the Australian Boater Survey, our joint project with the Marina Industries
Association”.
Supporting boating sector profile-raising projects, such as the highly successful “I fish, I boat and I vote” campaign,
these two surveys will provide evidence of the impact boating has on the Australian economy and the benefits
boating brings to communities across the country. Parker concluded “we know the boating sector is a significant
one, we know over five million Aussies enjoy boating, we know we have a great lifestyle to promote, but we also
know hard facts are what win arguments and we need those facts to speak up for boaters and the boating
industry”.
The Boating Industries Alliance Australia is the national trade association the recreational and light commercial
boating industry in Australia. BIAA provides a national voice for the alliance of state Boating Industry Associations,
including Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Marine
Queensland, working on their behalf as members to advance, promote and protect the boating industry. For
