27 February 2015 Dear colleague, This letter is to invite you to attend the 2nd annual one day symposium on Halal Tourism and Hospitality to be held on 23 March 2015 (9:00-5:00) at Auckland Institute of Studies, Asquith Campus, 120 Asquith Avenue, Mount Albert, Auckland. The symposium is co-sponsored by the Institute for Business Research (IBR) - University of Waikato, Auckland Institute of Studies and the Federation of Islamic Associations New Zealand (FIANZ). We are looking forward to a diverse set of participants representing travel, tourism, hospitality businesses, government and academics from New Zealand and overseas. Among the speakers is Professor Noriah Ramli from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. We would be delighted if you are able to attend as our guest. The symposium covers the following broad themes: Halal Tourism & Hospitality: opportunities and challenges for New Zealand Stakeholders of Halal Tourism and Hospitality: their role and contribution. New Zealand’s preparedness to be a favourite halal tourism destination: where we are? What we can do? Following the success of the 2014 Halal Tourism Conference hosted by Waikato University, the decision was made to establish a series of such conferences. In 2016 the Conference will move to Christchurch where it will be hosted by the University of Canterbury under the leadership of Professor Michael Hall and Dr Girish Prayag. It will be held on December 3rd (TBC) following the New Zealand Tourism and Hospitality Conference. Thank you again for considering this invitation. While there is no charge for this symposium, please RSVP to [email protected] by 18 March 2015 and please include any dietary restrictions. (All food will of course be Halal prepared.)
