Transforming global imaginaries:
Alter-globalism in Higher Education
Centre for Global Studies in Education
Monday 9 March (5–6pm), Meeting Rooms A & B, Faculty of Education
Alter-globalism is a movement that affirms global inter-dependence, cooperation and solidarity,
while challenging the detrimental effects of global financial capitalism. This presentation
examines shifting perceptions of the public role of (higher) education, with particular emphasis
on questions of ethics, justice and internationalisation that arise at the inter-sections of current
economic, cultural, political and social forces.
