A Guest Lecture on “Usability
Engineering and Agile Methodologies”
was delivered by Dr Y. Raghu Reddy ,
Associate Professor from IIIT,Hyderabad
on Jan 30th, 2013 for the target audience
of M.Tech (CSE) students.
The objective of the Guest Lecture
was to enlighten the students with the
challenges in Software Development.
Dr. Raghu Reddy started off the
lecture with brief introduction to Phases
of Software Development and importance
of Usability Engineering in Software
Development Process.
The speaker has explained about
the stages in developing the User
Interface(UI) design in detail such as
� Pre-Design
� Design
� Post-Design
The speaker has also given special
emphasize on Usability goals such as
� Time to learn
� Speed of performance
� Rate of errors
� Subjective satisfaction
� Retention over time
� Planned usability level etc.
He
explained
how
software
development moving from Plan Driven
Methodology to Agile Methodology. For the
clear understanding of Agile Methodology
speaker has demonstrated a game using a
set of balls and show cased how refinement
of a process would help in obtaining
optimized results.
The speaker concluded the session
by discussing the diverse advantages of
Agile Methodology.
