A Report on “Windows 8 Apps Development” conducted on June 27th, 2013

A Seminar on “Windows 8 Apps
development” was delivered by Mr. Ram
Kumar , Design Specialist, Miss. Kiran
Mayee , Software Engineer, R&D at
Microsoft, Edu kinect, on June 27th ,2013
for the student audiences of M. Tech (CSE).
The main objectives of seminar were
• To convey the importance of App
Development for windows 8 OS.
• To convey instructions to develop
Windows 8 App.
Mr. Ram Kumar started off session by
narrating the evolution of App for window
8 in recent years and common uses of
windows 8 & windows phony.
Followed by detailed discussion on
features of Windows 8 OS, portable
environment to develop the applications for
Mobile, laptops & palmtops.
Windows 8 OS features include a
new desktop with tiles that show the
information dynamically which can be
swiped or scrolled on for tablets and
desktops.
The later part of the session was
taken forward by Miss. Kiran Mayee on .Net
Frame Work and C#, which are used to
develop windows 8 Apps. She further
sparked the session by delivering following

Cloud Service titled as ”Windows
Azure” introduced by Microsoft.
Steps to Create Azure(database)
Steps to establish connection
between client and database.
Students were overwhelmed to
witness the demonstration of a simple
Windows 8 app using Visual Studio and
step by step approach to develop an app for
windows8.
The speakers have concluded the
session by encouraging students to develop
an Innovative Apps and motivated them to
participate in “YAPPON” a competition by
Microsoft which recognizes the best metro
Style App.
