A Report On 6 Day Workshop On “Microsoft Windows8 App Development Program”
(Conducted under Industry Institute Interaction)
A 6 day workshop on “Microsoft
Windows 8 app development program” was
organized by the department of Computer
Science & Engineering in association with
Microsoft, Edu-Kinect, India for the
students of B.E 3/4 CSE at VCE, Hyderabad
during Aug 7th - 9th 2012 and Aug. 17th -18th
2012.
A total of 137 students of CSE have
undergone the workshop and students were
divided into 2 batches and parallel sessions
were organized in the computer center lab
and CSE Lab –I.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Naga
Kumar, Software Engineer in R&D and Mr.
Harsha R&D Engineer at Microsoft, EduKinect. The objective of the workshop was
to
understand
about
the
runtime
environment of Windows8 O.S in depth, to
provide hands on experience in the
development of Microsoft windows8 apps,
to provide a platform for the students to
expose their innovative applications in
Microsoft environment using Windows 8
applications market and to facilitate
acquisition of technical skills in planning,
implementation and monitoring programs.
The workshop started off with a
video on “Technology Developments Made
Life Simpler, Easier and Better”. The
session continued with the basic platform
level topics & other complex concepts like
Win32 and WinRT run times, .Net
Framework, C# and XAML utilizations.
The speakers have emphasized on
development of Windows 8 application that
must be according to the Windows 8 design
document which would allow an application
to go into market for certification.
basic commodities used for application
development tools like Visual Studio Tool
and Blend Tool. The front end for an
application can be developed using XML
and back end for an application can be
developed using C#. Animation can be
integrated using Blend which makes your
applications even livelier.
The workshop concluded with the
revision of the topics discussed in the earlier
sessions. The best responses from the
students in the practical session were
rewarded with gifts as a token of
appreciation.

was very lively and the technical skills
imparted by the experts have helped them to
generate insights to develop the innovative
applications with attractive animations for
Microsoft Windows 8 platform.
