A Report on “Windows 8 Apps Development Competition “ conducted under
CSI student chapter on Oct 06th,2012
Department of Computer Science And
Engineering has organized Windows
8 app development competition in
association with Microsoft Pvt,Lmt
conducted under CSI student chapter
on Oct 06th,2012.
A total of 18 teams have registered in
the competition with their windows 8
app developed either by single student
or two students in each team.
The main objectives of the
competition were to motivate the
students to work on mini projects, to
inculcate a competitive spirit with in
students to develop a quality and
usable app.
After the brief demo of the mini
project presented by the participants,
it was acknowledge that the quality of
few apps were good enough to be
uploaded on windows 8 app market
for further verification and validation.
The students of BE 3/4 CSE A & B
have participated in competition by
submitting the apps developed as part
of their mini projects.
Out of 18 apps submitted by student
participants a total of six apps were
shortlisted under the best apps and
finally 2 apps were finalized to be
awarded with prize.

Virtual Piano was
awarded as the second best mini
project as the name suggests it a
replica of the actual piano, where in
user can play piano with simple touch
of the keys on the screen.
Hospitals
and
Blood
Bank
Management, Coffee World, Virtual
Piano, Asian Flags etc…were highly
appreciated as they were very well
developed
and
of
immediate
requirement for the human society.
The app on Hospitals and Blood
Banks Management was awarded as
first best mini projects as the app can
provide easy access to information
about the nearest hospitals and blood
banks, hyperlinks to their websites,
The marks were awarded based on
their level of completion, usefulness
and the student’s presentation skills.
