A Boot Camp on “Microsoft
Windows 8
App Development ”
started on July 15th, 2013 by the
Department of Computer Science &
Engineering
in association with
Microsoft for the students of B.E 3/4
CSE at Vasavi College of Engineering,
Hyderabad.

Bengaluru has delivered all the aspects
of Windows 8 Apps spanned for day.
The objective of the Boot Camp were

To explore the various features
of Windows 8
To encourage students to
develop ideas into Apps.
To extend Cooperation of
Microsoft in Developing Apps.
The session started with an
introduction to windows 8 and its
features. New features of the latest
Windows 8.1 preview version were
explored. Presentations were shared
covering journey from “Idea to an App”.
Visual Studio 2012 along with its
controls and templates were discussed
in brief.
The session continued with the
various stages of App development:
Idea, Commitment and implementation
using C#, XAML and JavaScript were
explored. Online sources for various
templates were provided.
The Boot Camp will continue for
6 weeks. As per the BOOT camp
following aids will be provided to
students.

weeks.
Interaction through mails for
offline queries.
App testing facilities for students
on request.
Weekly 2-day assessment of
students work.
On successful upload of App by
Aug 30th,2013 students will be
eligible for a Credit by Microsoft.
Exceptionally good Apps will be
uploaded on the “Wall of Fame”.
Mr. Sandeep and Microsoft Student
Partners (MSPs) of BE 4/4 CSE helped
the students personally with their ideas
and the ways that can be implemented.
The skills imparted by the
experts would certainly help them in
transforming their ideas into good App.
