Method: Workshop • Overview of communica3on skills using examples from pallia3ve care experiences • A video case: In a large case-‐based discussion, par3cipants will iden3fy issues important in insuring effec3ve communica3on skills. The group will also explore the importance of and difficul3es in developing these skills • Par3cipants will divide into small groups and engage in an interac3ve case based exercise addressing a specific communica3on skill and how to give feedback on communica3on skills • Brief discussion of the 3ps learned from par3cipa3ng in the cases about how to tailor our communica3on to best suit our pa3ents Phrasing maLers Maybe we should discon3nue care It could be worse We all die There is nothing more we can do I know how you feel
