Requirements for graduation

Sociology Degree:
Basic Requirements for Graduation1
General Education Requirements: Students should refer to the outline of general education requirements
listed in the undergraduate bulletin or located at http://www.uakron.edu/advising/curriculum-guides.
Foreign Language Requirement: Students are required to complete through the second year of a foreign
language. Students may test out of courses in the language sequence, but they must post the final course to their
transcript (e.g., level four). There are no substitutions for this requirement.
College of Arts & Sciences Upper-Division Requirement: All graduates of the college of Arts & Sciences are
required to complete 47 credit hours of 300/400 level coursework. Your departmental requirements (listed
below) fulfill a part of this requirement. The additional credits are commonly referred to as “electives” and can

specific minor and/or certificate with these credits; other students pursue courses of personal interest or
scheduling convenience. The only restriction on these classes is that they may NOT be a general education
