Abstract
The RiOS is a device that
will allow users to monitor
battery performance. The
monitoring can take place
during battery charging or
discharging, connected
via a serial or wireless data
connection. The device will
display this information to
the user in an intuitive iOS
application

Engineering Requirements
 The monitoring device shall accurately approximate battery voltage and current
with an error of ±1%
 The monitoring device shall closely monitor the peak temperature of the battery
pack with an error of ±1 deg Celsius
 The monitoring device shall supply 5V max and 1A max for iOS devices
 When connected locally (in the host system's discharging state), the monitoring
device application should display real-time data
 When connected wirelessly (in the host system's charging state), the monitoring
device application shall refresh sensor data every 5 minutes or until requested by
the user
 The monitoring device application shall display the battery pack voltage,
temperature, and the current drawn by the host system
 The monitoring device application shall calculate and display the host system's
state of charge
 The monitoring device application must allow the user to define battery
specifications of multiple host devices
 The monitoring device application shall estimate the estimated remaining distance
left of the host system!
