WHAT IS BIOMEDICAL
ENGINEERING ?
• Biomedical engineering (BME) is the application
of engineering principles and techniques to medical
problems.
• It combines the design and problem solving skills
of engineering with medical and biological sciences
to improve healthcare diagnosis and treatment.
• Due to the demand for increasingly sophisticated
medical devices, The Bureau of Labor Statistics
(BLS) projects an employment growth of 72% for
biomedical engineers over the next decade.
