J-Series Fourier Transform Infrared Modulator
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
OPTRA’s versatile J-Series Fourier
transform infrared (FTIR) modulator is
the extremely compact and rugged
Michelson
interferometer
originally
developed for the Joint Services
Lightweight Standoff Chemical Agent
Detector (JSLSCAD) program. In its
current configuration, this modulator is
capable of resolving the 7 to 14 µm
spectral region to as high as 2 cm-1 with a
radiometric sensitivity limited by the
detector.
For the chemical agent
detection
application,
the
system
alternates between a 16 cm-1 search mode
and 4 cm-1 in confirm mode.
The modulator is configurable for
passive or active infrared detection with a
cooled, uncooled, or imaging detector.
The spectral range is also variable by
choice of the beamsplitter/compensator,
lenses, and detector material. This system
has successfully undergone rigorous
testing for operation over a temperature
range of -40 to +65ºC and vibration levels
associated with a spectrum of military
ground, air, and water vehicles.
In
addition to the JSLSCAD (passive IR)
application, OPTRA has employed this
modulator in an active open-path FTIR
spectrometer, a visible imaging FT
spectrometer, and an active imaging
open-path FTIR spectrometer.
