the utility of the OPTRA Risley Prism Assembly (RPA)
beamsteerers for a variety of applications.
Scanning a laser illuminator across a wide field‐of‐view:  “Risley device is not as fast as a ‘fast steering mirror (FSM)’, but seems to be fast enough, and it provides a large field of regard, which avoids complex gimbal hardware to reposition a FSM.  “The flight hardware RPA performs as well as or better than advertised by the vendor in every aspect” Establishing/maintaining an optical communication link between moving platforms:  “For us, the key technical point is that it (the Risley) has an extremely wide field of view and is fast enough to track moving platforms and to compensate for moderate platform jitter” Steering an imaging system throughout a large field of regard:  “The integration of the Risley with the camera decouples the instantaneous field of view (IFOV)/field of view (FOV) tradeoff and achieves improved performance compared to current capability” Does your application require a compact, in-line, ruggedized beamsteering
element?
