As in non-sport organizations, executive managers who comprise the TMT are granted direct authority to make decisions relative to human resources. Thus, my analyses focus on these individuals and their role as the principal strategic decision makers in these organizations. In my dissertation, I seek to make sense of the role that these employees play in this process by investigating TMT employee backgrounds and experiences as well as prevalent institutional logics of action as mechanisms for explaining performance variations observed during competition in these contexts.
