Sigma Nu
The men of Sigma Nu worked hard over summer to
prepare for this fall semester. We are still changing
things inside our newly acquired chapter house at
233 Spicer St. This semester we are looking forward to a big candidate class. We initiated 10
brothers this fall. We are also looking forward to
Greek League flag football.
We will be holding our annual philanthropy
November 4th. We are holding Game Ball Run
2006. The men will be running the game ball football from Bowling Green, OH to Akron, OH and
onto the field before the game as the Zips take on
the BG Falcons that Saturday at the Rubber Bowl.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to
Cystic Fibrosis in memory of Mike Burkett, a
Sigma Nu brother who fell from Cystic Fibrosis in
2000. Any questions please contact us.
Phi Kappa Tau
We hosted our 2nd Annual Volleyball Tournament on
April 22, 2006. We had a great turnout with 21 teams
entering in the competition. Through the whole
event, we raised $1300 for the Hole in the Wall
Camps. We will be having our 3rd annual Volleyball
Tournament this coming spring, on April 21, 2007.
At the beginning of this fall semester, we
started off with 9 different recruitment events. Every
one of the events turned out very well. For our final
rush event, we had a rock concert with four different
bands, which turned out to be one of the best rush
events we have had in years.
We are going to be having our annual Alumni
Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday, November 22,
2006.
Phi Delta Theta
The men of Phi Delta Theta have been hard at work planning
activities and recruiting for the new pledges of the 2006 fall
semester. Such activities include bowling at Stonehedge,
getting together at BW3’s, cookouts and games of poker at the
house. The fraternity has also been busy getting major repairs
done around the house, and generally making the house look
better with projects and various other sundries. The fraternity is
looking forward to viewing plans for a new house that should
be getting built in the future and is currently in the process of
meeting requirements for such an awesome project to be
completed. On September 11, 2006 the men of Phi Delta Theta
had a remembrance for the victims of the terrorist attacks on
that day five years ago. Collin Cousineau played the bagpipes
outside of the Memorial Clock in front of the Student Union,
and those that showed up to remember the victims surely felt
the solemnity of the event by Collin’s exquisite performance.
Concerning sports, the men of Phi Delta Theta are involved in
intramural kickball and flag football and are excited to play and
bring back wins. .
Lambda Chi Alpha
From the Philanthropy side of Lambda Chi Alpha, we have been
working hard at our Fall Philanthropy, The North American Food
Drive. We currently have raised $1,250 dollars just from Corporate
Sponsors. We have also raised $319 dollars thanks to the supportive
Greek system for our North American Food Drive September 21st.
We currently have two upcoming Philanthropy events, the first
being Presidents Kidnapping on October 15th, where the Presidents
of each chapter will be held for ransom of canned food or monetary
donations, and our final event our Food Drive Day Pick. All of this
combined we hope in achieving our goal of 50,000 pounds of food
to add to the total collection of food that will be collected by
Lambda Chi’s all over the United States and Canada..

IFC
This years Interfraternity Council helped change the face of
recruitment for Greek Life. Recruitment this year has been a huge
success because of the dedication of our chapters and IFC
Officers. IFC held four very successful recruitment events that
brought in over thirty- two names to pass on to our eleven
chapters. Overall, each chapter has grown stronger with the use of
IFC Recruitment.

DELTA GAMMA
We, the women of Delta Gamma, have been very busy lately with many activities. During recruitment, we
received twenty-one new amazing women. We held our annual Tee - Off, a golf outing at Turkey Foot Lake
Golf Course, on Saturday September ,23rd where we raised over $1400 for our philanthropy; Service for
Sight and Aid to the Blind. We also kept ourselves busy that day by attending Greek Night at the Rubber
Bowl.
On October 7th we will be helping with the Akron Vision Support Services annual White Cane Walk, an
event where people have a chance to walk in the shoes of someone who is blind. It will be amazing to experience for all of us to have a brief experience of what it feels like to not be able to see.
Greek Week is coming up October 8th -14th and we are excited to participate in the festivities. As you can
see we have been doing many fun things this semester and we cannot wait for all the fun that is yet to come.
Alpha Gamma Delta
After much anticipation and many delays, our house is finally completed! The ceremony was on
September 23rd and our international president ceremoniously opened the house. Every Alpha Gam
worked very hard during recruitment, and as a result, we have a whopping 21 new baby squirrels! On
September 30th, Danielle Berasi, JoBeth Householder, Tess Goodrow, Heather Coats, and Ashley Riccardi
were part of a relay in the Akron Marathon. The girls finished the race in a little over 4 hours and placed
33rd out of 52 teams. Right now, our big focus is on Lip Jam. We are working very hard to make this Lip
Jam the best yet. All the proceeds will go towards our philanthropy, juvenile diabetes.
Alpha Sigma Phi
This fall the men of Alpha Sigma Phi have
been putting the finishing touches on our
Petition for Charter which is to be
submitted this semester. This marks
another milestone for the chapter. The
spring of 2004 sparked the beginning of
the interest group when two members from
the national organization visited campus
and recruited the first eight members of the
group. After continuous recruitment and
member development the group reached its
second milestone on December 6, 2004 at
which point the group officially became a
colony. This semester Alpha Sigma
Phi plans to pledge nine gentlemen into the
group. In addition to chartering goals, the
group is also preparing for some all Greek
events throughout the semester. This October the Sigs will be reprising their role as
promoters of alcohol awareness by cohosting the Rootbeer Kegger with ZPN. In
early November, be sure to look forward to
the second annual Puppy Love event to
raise money for Canine Companions for
Independence. Another event to look forward to this semester is the "Up 'til Dawn"
event which will be taking place in October
with the finale in April next year. The men
would also like to take this chance to wish
everyone a successful semester and they
look forward to participating in and supporting the other chapter's events throughout the semester.

Phi Gamma Delta
The fall semester has been a busy and eventful one for
the men of Phi Gamma Delta. Our main focus has been on
recruitment, and so far we have had many successful events.
One of our more notable events of the semester was
Spicetemberfest, which was a dry social event co-sponsored by
Campus Focus. This is the second year that the Phi Gams and
Campus Focus have held the event. There were many activities
throughout the evening such as an inflatable obstacle course,
live DJ, and of course plenty of food.
In addition to recruitment, we have been putting a lot of
effort towards our 7th Annual 5K Race benefiting Akron
Children’s Hospital. The race is being held on Saturday, October 7th at 10 am. We have also been focusing on community
service, campus involvement, academics, and athletics. The
men of Phi Gamma Delta would like to wish everybody good
luck for all of their events this semester, and look forward to
seeing everybody on campus.
Alpha Kappa Alpha
The lovely ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, have had quite
a busy semester. They have been very active in the community. We
recently volunteered for the Heart Walk at the University of Akron
along with the graduate women of Alpha Kappa Alpha. NPHC recently had a week of events, such as a movie night, an informational, and a forum for students to learn about how to prepare for
the professional world, the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha were active
in all of those activities. Look forward to our upcoming events of
AKA robics, and financial aid workshop.
Theta Chi
The Fall Semester of 2006 is proving to be a busy and exciting
time for the gentlemen of Theta Chi fraternity and the year has
hardly just begun! One of the most notable events in the last
month has included volunteer work at the Time-Warner Akron
Marathon as well as clothing donations to the Haven of Rest on
East Market Street. Besides exercising our motto, to extend "the
helping hand", the chapter has been enthusiastically competing
on the football field in the Men’s Greek flag football league on
campus. Also, we have plans to participate in Walleyball and
Soccer later this semester. Additionally, Theta Chi supports our
fellow Greek organizations by our participation in Alpha Gamma
Delta's "Lip Jam", Alpha Delta Pi's "Pi-Tech" as well as FIJI's 5k
Run. The chapter has been honored to be chosen to host the
annual Mid-Year Leadership Challenge in which Theta Chi chapters from all over the Great Lakes area will be traveling to Akron
to share ideas on chapter operations and to build brotherhood.
Recruitment has also been a main focus and the chapter has been
successful in recruiting many new and potential members who
show certain promise in ensuring the immediate and future
success of Theta Chi.
