The women of Alpha Delta Pi have had a very
busy spring semester. Members enjoyed attending the
80s Babies Bash, the Up ‘Til Dawn Finale event, and
Greek Night at the JAR. At our semi annual Four
Point Diamond Recognition ceremony, our families
joined us for lunch and members were recognized for
outstanding scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and
service. Our Lion Share Bowling Challenge
Tournament was very successful and raised 255
dollars for the Ronald McDonald House. Thanks to
everyone who participated! We are very proud that
some of our members were recently inducted in to the
Greek Life Honoraries. Gina Caserta, Amy
Kovacevich, Jamie Meyers, Sarah Miller, and Kara
Robertson were inducted in to Rho Lambda. Gina
Caserta, Amy Kovacevich, Jamie Meyers, Sarah
Miller, Lauren Oldfield, and Kara Robertson were
inducted in to Order of Omega. Gina Caserta, Amy
Kovacevich, Lauren Oldfield, Kara Robertson, and
Rachel Schutte were inducted in to Gamma Sigma
Alpha. At the Greek Leadership Awards, we were
pleased to receive the awards for Chapter Academic
Excellence, New Member Class Academic
Excellence, Scholastic Achievement, Academic
Programming, Alumnae Outreach, Recruitment
Excellence, Public Relations, Overall Sports, and the
Silver Chapter Excellence award. Congratulations to
all of the chapters who took home awards!
This semester has been going really well for
the men of Sigma Nu. We have been keeping on track
with our focus on grades and are anticipating excel
lent reports for everyone. Our upcoming philanthropy events include a 5K run for Multiple Sclerosis.
We are expecting a decent turnout for the event and
hope that it will be a success. There are only a few
weeks left in the semester, the weather is getting
nicer, and we hope that everyone has a chance to
enjoy it. The men of Sigma Nu wish all the best of
luck during finals.
This has been a very exciting semester for the
women of Delta Gamma. After returning from a
whirlwind of Spring Break destinations, we have
hosted and participated in several fundraising and
volunteer events. Members Jennifer Schmalz and
Kelly Renzi organized two programs for residents at a
local nursing home- an Easter egg hunt and a Spring
Fling dance. Our annual Italian Dinner was a great
success and we were able to raise a significant
amount for a young boy suffering from leukemia.
Pie-a-Dee Gee was both amusing and entertaining as
always, and we raised these funds in memory of Delta
Gamma's oldest existing member, who was an Akron
Alumnae. Anchor Splash, our major annual fundraiser
for our philanthropy was held April 7-11, and the
week was filled with contests, competitions,
serenades and a lively swim meet. Additionally, we
have participated in many other philanthropy events
around campus, including Lambda Chi Alpha's
Bathtub Pull, and we look forward to involvement in
Phi Delt's Derby Days. Our Founder's day was
rescheduled due to weather conditions in mid-March,
and the entire chapter greatly anticipates celebrating
the event at Portage Country Club in late April. We
are very thankful for yet another wonderful semester
at The University of Akron, and we anticipate the
warm summer weather and the break from classes
ahead of us!
Kappa Kappa Gamma has had a great
semester so far! They had their annual Spaghetti
Dinner Fundraiser on March 26 to raise money for the
Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, Kappa Kidney
Kamp, and Reading is Fundamental (RIF). They also
collected children’s books to donate to RIF. They
also had an awesome recruitment! Initiating 13 new
girls, they are proud to say that they have reached
house total!! The girls are very excited to continue
the semester and participate in intramurals
and songfest!
Sigma Alpha Epsilon
The pride of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is shining
brightly this semester.
This chapter has won the Alhpa Delta Pi bowling
tournament and is looking forward in participating in
anchor splash, songfest, derby days, and all other
philanthropic events. With our participation comes
events sponsored from our chapter as well. Comming
up in the month of April, we will be holding a Texas
Hold-um tournament as a fundraiser, and our
legendary Paddy Murphy week will be held from
April 20th through the 26th. Events of the week
include nights out at both Pints and Barley House, a
cookout on Friday the 25th, and at last our registered
party on the 26th with live music and the handsome
men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. We look forward to
raising our chapter GPA and members this semester,
and becomming a known force in The University of
Akron's Greek system.
Phi Gamma Delta
We’ve had a great semester so far at FIJI.
First we would like to welcome our new members and
prospective members going through the pledge
process this semester; welcome to the Greek life.
Philanthropy is a high priority at FIJI, and so we
would like to thank those who helped make our 6th
Annual Dodgeball Tournament a success. We are also
looking forward to participating in Relay for Life and
raising as much as we can for the American Cancer
Society. As always we have been working to
constantly improve and keep high grades; excellence
in scholarship is important at FIJI. We hope all the
chapters have a great semester. Lets finish out with
great success!
Alpha Sigma Phi
Phi Kappa Tau
The Gentlemen of Alpha Sigma Phi have been
having a most enjoyable spring semester. Most
recently, we won a staggering set of awards at the
GLA’s. We are pleased to say that we won: The New
Member Class Academic Excellence award, Interfraternal award, the Recruitment Excellence award, the
Scholastic Achievement award, and many individual
awards for personal excellence. Finally, on April 25th
and 26th, there will be six new Brothers to join the
Mystic Circle that is Alpha Sigma Phi.
We recently had our Warrior Weekend on
February 22nd through the 24th, which is an annual
brotherhood retreat we have at our house. We are
getting prepared for our Beach Week and Volleyball
tournament. We would like to congratulate all the
recipients of the many Greek Leadership awards.
Good luck to all the chapters, summer is almost here!
