Course presentation This course seeks to work on the themed progression and the textual consistency and cohesion from a translation approach in real texts of different genres and of high difficulty. 2. Competencies to be attained: Upon completing the degree programme a host of skills should be attained and this subject addresses the following general (G) and specific (S) skills defined in the form of learning outcomes: ● Situation analysis and problem solving (G.2): Identifying which comprehension problems brings up a German text as well as the cases of linguistic or cultural divergences and reexpression problems in it. Knowing how to apply the strategies and using the appropriate resources in order to find the solutions for each case. ● Organization and planning (G.8): Properly organizing the work stages of individual and group translations and correctly managing time. Team work and individual work skills (G.13): Individually translating, brainstorming and comparing translation options with the fellow students in order to find mistakes and inconsistencies in the individual translations. Excellence in the written and oral proficiency of the native language(s) (S.1): being able to produce translations that are linguistically correct and appropriate to the formal and cultural Spanish standards. ● ● ● Ability to translate general texts of medium or high difficulty from German to Spanish (S.6) 3. Contents Knowledge of translation methodology: 1. Specific text difficulties owing to the specific field. 2. Contrasts between German and Spanish at a macro textual level. 4. Evaluation and reassessment This course is a classroom teaching one so the students will only be able to completely carry out the tasks in a satisfactory way by attending the classes. The attendance is essential in order to follow and pass this course. The workload per week of this course is 7 hours inclass and 2 hours and a half outside of the classroom.
