TERMINOLOGY​
⎯ introduces the theoretical basis and application of terminology in specialised translation. The specific goal of the course is to provide the translator with the basic competencies and skills in solving terminological problems and creating terminological resources. For that, it is essential to take in readings about both basic and applied subjects. 2. Skills to be developed Upon completing the degree programme a host of skills should be attained and this subject addresses the following general (G) and specific (S) skills defined in the form of learning outcomes: G.2. Knowing the essential concepts of terminology and its work units. G.4. Documentary and research sources search. ●
Searching, selecting and evaluating terminological resources. G.5. Information management ●
Searching, selecting and evaluating appropriate information. G.17. Application of knowledge into practice ●
Knowing the work methodology in practising terminology. S.10. Ability to reflect on the operation of translation. ●
Applying terminological knowledge to the activity of translation 1 S.11. Use of computer tools applied to linguistic mediation, including a command of machine translation and localisation techniques. ●
Mastering automatic management of multilingual terminology. E.12. Ability to search and manage information and documentation. ●

RY (individual) 9. Tasks This course's tasks are meant to be done progressively That's why the student starts them during the first week but are not due until the final weeks. INDIVIDUAL TASKS Task 1 (T1): Creation of a mini­glossary. For this assignment the student will use TERMINUS in order to prepare a document containing three terms on an object or subject found in a specialised text. week 10 Task 3 (T3): Active participation in several terminological discussions on specific cases Percentage of the mark: it can make the final mark increase by up to a 10% Type of assignment: mandatory Progressive work, each discussion will be accessible during 2 weeks GROUP TASKS The groups should consist of three students.
