School of Education

School of Education
New York City • Westchester
Our Education students begin student teaching a year earlier
than those at most other schools—giving you a head start
in the job market when you graduate.
Fieldwork and student teaching start the first semester of sophomore year • Growing job openings, especially
for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) teachers • Close partnerships with area schools
means Pace is among the first to know about new job openings • The New York City Department of Education
hired 5,000 new teachers last year.
Points of Distinction
Pace students had a 98–99% pass rate on the
2012–2013 NYS certification exam. That certification
is reciprocal in 48 states, giving graduates great
flexibility in their future careers.
The only university in the New York City area with
TeachLivE™ technology, a mixed-reality virtual
classroom simulator where students develop
confidence and skills before they enter their first
real classroom.
Build an Impressive Teaching Resume
Pace students do their student teaching fieldwork
in a variety of public, private, and charter schools
in New York City and Westchester County. Recent
placements include John F. Kennedy School in Port
Chester, Spruce Street School, Explore Charter
School, Valhalla Middle School and High School,
Yeshiva Ateret Torah, and Mamaroneck Avenue
School in White Plains.
Strong programs in Childhood and Adolescent
Education, and accelerated five-year bachelor’s
and master’s programs so you can add Special
Education, Educational Technology, or Literacy
Specialist preparation to your resume.
We offer fieldwork experiences one year earlier
than other colleges. Students receive a
more focused and immersive experience in
regional classrooms and learn how school
communities work.
