Facilities and Privileges Available to Recipients of Honorary Awards

Facilities and Privileges Available
to Recipients of Honorary Awards
(Holders of Honorary Doctorates, Emeritus Professorships, Honorary Fellowships, University of
Waikato Medals and Distinguished Alumni Awards)
The University of Waikato values very highly its connections within the growing community of people
who have been recognised through its honorary awards. These connections are of lasting importance.
In order to maintain its links with recipients of honorary awards, the University makes available a range
of facilities and privileges as follows:
Honorary Alumni
So that they can maintain their connections with the University into the future, recipients of honorary
awards automatically become honorary alumni. Honorary alumni are notified about University events
and activities and may receive VIP invitations to special functions from time to time. Honorary alumni
also receive a range of regular University publications.
Membership of the University Library
Holders of honorary awards are also entitled to Associate membership of the University Library. Please
contact the University if you do not already hold a borrower card and would like one to be issued to you.
Access to other University Facilities
Some recipients of honorary awards, especially Emeritus Professors and Honorary Fellows, are actively
engaged in research and teaching activities at the University. The use of office space and other
departmental facilities in such cases is subject to negotiation on a case by case with the relevant
chairperson of school/department.
