The process for seeking nominations will be managed by the Research Office as follows:
1.
Nominations will be sought biennially from University of Waikato staff. They will normally open in March with a
deadline of the first Friday in May.
2.
A nomination may be made by an academic staff member who can make informed comment on the nominee’s
contribution and suitability for an award. Nominations for younger and emerging researchers are particularly
encouraged.
While staff may not self-nominate, they must agree to provide the information required on the nomination form
taken from their Academic Staff Portfolio and other aspects of their research work.
Nominations must be supported by the relevant Dean.
Nomination forms may be found online at www.waikato.ac.nz/research/ro/uow_staff/Research_Excellence_Awards
3.
Nominations will be considered by a small selection panel comprised of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research and two
staff appointed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
4.
Recipients for each award category will be recommended to the Vice-Chancellor for approval.
The Vice-Chancellor reserves the right to not make an award in any category in any given year.
