Standard 2- Participation
and Inclusion
Aim
Bathurst Early Childhood Intervention Service will encourage and support each child with a
disability/ developmental delay and their family to contribute to social and civic life in their
communities in the way they choose.
Engagement and meaningful inclusion are fundamental to being active members of all aspects
of community life. BECIS recognises that it has a shared responsibility to ensure support
required to enable participation in an ordinary and meaningful way is provided and that a
genuine connection and active inclusion is promoted.
The BECIS workforce will work towards assisting children and their families to be included by
participating in community activities that are meaningful to them. BECIS staff will work with
other service providers and the broader community to increase the options and opportunities for
children with a disability/ developmental delay and their family.
