1) M. S. W. (Master of Social Work in Rural Community Development) MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK (M. S. W. in Rural Community Development) (From the Academic Year - 2013-14) Intake: 60 Eligibility A graduate (with minimum 50% aggregate marks for open category and 45% marks for reserved category students) in any discipline, who could attain the required merit in the Entrance test of the YCSRD specially conducted every year in the Month of May/June is eligible for the admission to the course. Syllabus for the Entrance Test There shall be a separate entrance test for M.S.W. course/programme of the YCSRD, which will be conducted by the University in the Month of May/June of the academic year. The syllabi for the course / programme shall consist of the following areas. A) General Knowledge and Aptitude, for 50 marks. (Multiple Choice Questions i.e. MCQs) B) General Communication in English and Knowledge of Soft Skills, for 50 marks. (MCQs) C) Course Specific Subject Knowledge/Aptitude, for 50 marks. (MCQs) D) Group Discussion and Personal Interview, for 50 marks (25 + 25 marks). E) Aggregate percentage of marks at graduation level. Part C of the entrance test belongs to testing of the subject knowledge consisting of the following topics [Syllabus for Entrance Test: for 50 Marks]. Shahu Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Problems in India: Population Explosion, Unemployment, Poverty, Dowry, Gender Discrimination and Inequality, Farmers’ suicide, Violation of Human Rights Government Policies: Agriculture, Health, Population, Education, Women, Environment Rural Development: Panchayat Raj Institutions; Schemes and Experiments- Indira Awas Yojana, Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas(PURA), Bharat Nirman, MGNREGA, SGSY, NRLM, PMGSY; Ralegan Siddhi, Hiware Bazar, Anandvan Group Discussion and Personal Interview [G.D.P.I.] All candidates obtaining 60 marks out of 150 marks (Test components of A, B and C noted above) shall become eligible for Group Discussion (G.D.) and Personal Interview (P.I.) Test of 50 (G.D. 25 + P.I. 25) marks. A Merit list of the candidates appearing for Entrance Test will be notified on the University Website before conduct of G.D. and P.I. Test. Every student seeking admission to the courses run under YCSRD has to appear for G.D. and P.I. on topics related to social, economic, political, cultural and environmental issues. The student should express his/her views in 20 minutes on the topic selected by the group. This discussion will be held in English. It shall be followed by personal interview. A candidate has to appear for both written test and G.D. & P.I., failing which the candidate shall not be considered eligible for admission. A final merit list of all the students shall be notified on the Shivaji University Website before the actual admission rounds.
