Configure Settings
Post a Message

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select Settings.
Select Org Unit Settings as desired.
Select Personal Settings as desired.
Select Save.
Create a Forum

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select New.
Select New Forum.
Enter a Title.
Optional: Enter a Description and choose options.
Optional: Choose Availability options.
Optional: Choose Locking Options.
Optional: Set Release Conditions and Group Restrictions
(Restrictions tab).
Select Save and Close.

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select the topic to which a message will be posted.
Select Compose.
Enter a subject in the Subject box.
Enter a message in the Message box.
Optional: Select Pin Message to permanently keep this message
at the top of the list.
Optional: Select Follow updates to this message to be notified
each time a user has replied to the message.
Optional: Select Add a File to attach a file.
a. Select Upload.
b. Select Open.
c. Optional: Select Add to attach another file.
d. Select Done.
Optional: Select Record Audio to create a sound file attached to
the message. Follow Audio record instructions.
Select Post.
Copy a Forum
Create a New Topic in a Forum

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select New.
Select New Topic.
Select a Forum from the dropdown menu.
Enter a Title.
Optional: Add additional conditions as desired.
Optional: Select the Restrictions tab then select desired options.
Optional: Select the Assessment tab then select desired options.
Optional: Select the Activities tab if you have or will create a
rubric.
Select Save and Close.
Edit Release Conditions or Group Restrictions

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select the Edit from the forum or topic’s context menu.
Optional: Select the Restrictions tab then select desired options.
a. Select desired Release Conditions.
b. Select desired Group Restrictions.
Select Save and Close.

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select More Actions.
Select Copy.
Select Copy a Forum.
Select a Forum to Copy from the dropdown.
Enter a New Forum Title.
Optional: Select Copy Topics to include the forum and all of its
topics.
a. Optional: Select Copy pinned messages.
Select Copy to save the copied forum.
Copy a Topic

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select More Actions.
Select Copy.
Select Copy a Topic.
Select the topic’s forum from Forum to Copy dropdown.
Select the Topic to Copy from the dropdown.
Enter a New Topic Title.
Select the desired destination from Forum Title(s).
Optional: Select Copy pinned messages.
Select Copy to save the copied topic.
Edit Assessment of a Topic

Select Discussions on the navigation bar.
Select Edit from the desired topic’s context menu.
Select the Assessment tab.
Optional: Select an existing Grade Item or New Grade Item.
Enter total points in the Score Out of box.
Select Save and Close.
Reorder Forums and Topics

Select Discussions.
Select More Actions.
Select Reorder.
Optional: Select Expand All or Collapse All to see desired items.
Select numbers from Sort Order dropdowns to indicate sequence.
Select Save.
